Minutes: January 10, 2023 Regular Board Meeting
Presented for approval at the February 14, 2023 Board Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Chair Michelle Meis, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisors present includes Stan Iskierka, Doug Johnson, Branden Mell, and Betsy Rising. Clerk Mary Winter and Treasurer Mary Dillner, via Skype were also present.

Motion to approve the minutes by Betsy Rising, seconded by Stan Iskierka. Approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report by Betsy Rising, seconded by Stan Iskierka. Approved.
Bills
Motion to approve paying bills by Betsy Rising, seconded by Branden Mell. Approved.
Open Forum
- Nothing at this meeting.
Road Maintenance Report
- Snow plowing started with a heavy wet snow.
- 14 big Trees down from the heavy wet snow in addition to a lot of branches.
- Cut ice prior to the snow.
- Will be cleaning up slush off roads weather permitting over the next 2 days.
- Supervisor Stan and John speak on a regular basis to determine which roads to go after.
- Supervisor Branden stated the cutter really evens out the roads very well
- Residents’ vehicles have been in the turnarounds in the road hindering the plowing.
- Residents have been pushing snow into the road and across the road.
- Residents are placing their trash cans in the road and not in their driveways.
- Shorewood is always plowed unless the road is blocked.
- Supervisor Branden mentioned Shorewood does pay for the plowing of their roads but the township is not making money. Cost have gone up.

- Budget Committee – 2024 Preliminary Budget
- Chair Michelle explained how the Budget and Levy are determined and how the township receives money for the Doug, a new supervisor to the board.
- Budget and Levy were discussed with the requested updates by Supervisor Stan.
- Motion to approve the Budget by Stan Iskierka, seconded by Betsy Rising. Approved.

Audit Date – moved here
- Possible audit dates were discussed. It will be the week before the Annual Meeting in March. Treasurer Mary D. will find the dates that work best.
- Clerk Mary will add to the agenda for the February Board Meeting.
- Contract Committee –
- Supervisor Branden stated the maintenance contract expires July or August. We should review the contract at the April Board meeting. Clerk Mary will add to the agenda.

- Clerk present monthly report of township happenings.

- Solar Resolution – Resolution 01-2023
- The Nessel Township Board determined it will not do a resolution on solar for our township.
- South Bay Campground CUP
- Information the county provided was reviewed.
- Supervisor Branden will email and communicate directly with Beth at+ the county.

- Updated Quotes for Furnace and Air Conditioner
- The board reviewed the updated quotes.
- Supervisor Doug Johnson will have his brother come in to look at the furnace to see if it should be replaced at this time.
