The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Chair Michelle Meis, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Supervisors present included Stan Iskierka, Doug Johnson and Betsy Rising. Clerk Heather Sward, and Treasurer Mary Dillner were also present.

Chip & Crack Sealing Quote Opening

**We moved the opening of crack sealing & chip sealing quotes to this point of the meeting.

Chip Sealing: We received two quotes for chip sealing.  Motion to approve the use of the low bid, Pearson Brothers for Township chip sealing in the amount of $30,300.66 by Stan Iskierka, seconded by Betsy Rising.  Approved.

Crack Sealing: We received two quotes for crack sealing.  Motion to approve the use of the low bid, Seal Tech Inc. for Township crack sealing in the amount of $17,571.25 by Betsy Rising, seconded by Stan Iskierka.  Approved.

Road Maintenance Report

  • Muddy Gap Hollow cleaning garbage from the ditches (2 – TV’s, 44 tires).
  • Cleaning up shoulders, edges and turnarounds on township roads.
  • Repairing holes on Clover Trail, applying gravel & sweeping intersections.

Committee Reports

  1. Road Committee
  • Answering a lot of calls about dust control.  Anticipated application is estimated to be between June 5th and June 15th.
  • Installing blue signs on new builds.
  1. Budget Committee
  • Nothing to report.
  1. Contract Committee
  • We reviewed the presented Muddy Gap Hollow extension for 2024-2025.  Our current extension ends on August 13, 2024. The term allows for a final 1-year extension at a 2% rate increase.

Motion to approve the Muddy Gap Hollow contract modification #3 for 2024-2025 as presented by Betsy Rising, seconded by Michelle Meis.  Approved.

  • We received the City of Braham Fire Contract invoice to pay this month.  Branden confirmed that the invoice matched the contract.

  1. Clerk’s Township Update
  • The Clerk presented monthly report of the township happenings.

Old Business

  1. Water Softener: Glen’s Plumbing installed the new water softener.  This project is complete.   

New Business

  1. 24-25’ Salt: We have pre-ordered 50 tons at the state pricing at a rate of $124.64/ton delivered.
  1. Township Cleanup Day: Discussion was had if we wanted to do a cleanup day.  There is an estimated cost to the township of $1,000.00.   It was determined that we will not do a cleanup day in 2024.  We will reevaluate it for 2025.
  1. Chisago County Planning Commission: There is a County Zoning, Subdivision and Shoreland Management Ordinance Repeal and Replacement meeting on June 6, 2024 at 7:00 pm for anyone interested in attending.
  1. It was inquired as to who is up for election in 2024.  Betsy Rising, Stan Iskierka and Michelle Meis are up for election on the November 2024 ballot.
