The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Chair Michelle Meis, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisors present included Stan Iskierka, Branden Mell and Doug Johnson. Clerk, Heather Sward and Treasurer, Angela Krejchik were also present.

Board Meeting Minutes
Motion to approve the April 9th, 2025 regular board meeting minutes by Branden Mell, seconded by Stan Iskierka. Approved.
Motion to approve the April 23rd, 2025 Local Board of Appeal and Equalization board meeting minutes by Branden Mell, seconded by Doug Johnson. Approved.
Treasurer’s Report
Motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report by Branden Mell, seconded by Stan Iskierka. Approved.
Bills
Motion to approve paying the bills in the amount of $70,481.80 by Branden Mell, seconded by Doug Johnson. Approved.
The Treasurer noted that the version of QuickBooks that was purchased did not accommodate payroll. Motion to approve the Treasure to purchase the online version of QuickBooks at a cost of $1768.00 for 2025 by Michelle Meis, seconded by Doug Johnson. Approved.
Variance/Plat/Interim Use Permit Requests
None at this meeting.
Open Forum
Tom Phillips, a resident of 489th Avenue inquired if Nessel Township will be maintaining the 33’ access easement at the property of 449 497th Ave. It was determined that yes, the township will maintain this easement. Motion to approve the letter drafted by the clerk stating this, addressed to David Peterson by Stan Iskierka, seconded by Branden Mell. Approved.
Road Maintenance Report
- Muddy Gap Hollow spent time mulching and brush cutting this month, shaping up roads and spreading gravel on Bayside and Bayside Circle in preparation for the upcoming chloride treatment.

- Dust control chloride will start in June
- Discussion on replacing a culvert on our shared road of 540th along with gravel needs. The clerk will reach out to Royalton Township.
- All dust control correspondence has been mailed out.

- Clerk’s Township Update
- The Clerk presented monthly report of the township happenings.
Old Business
- Township Road Maintenance Contract Bidding: Motion by Betsy Rising to approve the presented summary public notice for publishing for the Road Maintenance Contract bidding notice, seconded Doug Johnson. Approved. We will also post on the website.
New Business
- Crack Sealing – Three (3) bids were opened ta this time. Fahrner in the amount of $25,577.00; Seal Tech in the amount of $12,368.75; and MP Asphalt in the amount of $9,600.00. Motion by Branden Mell to award the project to Seal Tech with a bid in the amount of $12,368.75 based on: 1) the proved Polyflex technique 2) the exclusions noted in MP Asphalt’s bid 3) Seal Tech’s past performance on projects, seconded by Doug Johnson. Approved.
- Mark Hall ROW Vacation Request: Mark Hall presented a request and documents to vacate the undeveloped road off of Amber Ave. Motion by Branden Mell to approve Mark Hall’s request that the township leave the vacated section of Olson Drive vacated along lots 5-11, Molly Addition, seconded by Stan Iskierka. Approved.
- Blue Heron Trail: Discussion on the Blue Heron Trail road overlay project was had. The Clerk will draft an email to Fish Lake Township with our questions for further discussion.
- Chisago County Senior Center: We received a request from the Chisago County Senior Center for a donation. Per Nessel Township resolution, we cannot make donations.
