Minutes: November 11, 2022 Board of Canvass Meeting

Presented for approval at the December 13, 2022 Board Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by Chair Michelle Meis, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Supervisor’s present includes Stan Iskierka via phone, Branden Mell and Betsy Rising. Clerk Mary Winter was also present.

Issue Oath to Board of Canvass Members

Clerk issued oath of office to the Nessel Township Supervisors.  

Approve Agenda

 

-Added to the agenda Candidate takes Oath of office.

Motion to approve the agenda with additions by Branden Mell, seconded by Betsy Rising.  Approved.

Present Nessel Township Summary Report

The Canvass Board was presented the Summary Report.  The board reviewed the Summary Report as it was presented.

Concurs or Deals with any Errors or Write-in issues

Motion to accept Summary Report as presented by Branden Mell, seconded by Betsy Rising.  Approved.

Canvas Board Declares the Results of the Vote

Motion to approve Summary Report as presented by Branden Mell, seconded by Betsy Rising.  Approved.

Canvas Board Signs off on the Canvass Report

All board members signed the Canvass Report.  Clerk signed on behalf of Supervisor Stan Iskierka with his permission and initialed.

Canvass Board Authorizes Clerk to Issue a Notification to Candidates 

Motion to approve Clerk to issue a notification to candidate who won Write-in Votes by Brenden Mell, seconded by Betsy Rising.  Approved.

Douglas Johnson was present at the meeting and clerk gave notification to Douglas of his win.  

Candidate takes oath of office

Douglas Johnson – Took the oath of office for the open seat Supervisor B a 4-year term.

  • Supervisor Branden requested the board appoint Douglas Johnson immediately to the board so he may sit at the board table during our December meeting and in January he would just assume the 4-year term.

Motion to appoint Douglas Johnson to Seat B Supervisor for December 2022 board meeting by Branden Mell, seconded by Betsy Rising.  Approved.
